At present, private navigation and routing services operate independently of the traffic guidance measures published by public traffic control centres. Their strategy information can only be processed to a limited extent by the navigation services. In addition, the latter are designed to optimise routes for individual users, while public strategies are aimed at optimising the overall transport system. This ultimately leads to suboptimally exploitation of transport infrastructures.
The goal of this study on behalf of the
German Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) is to develop an ITS reference architecture for an information exchange between public transport control centres and private routing providers. In addition to the development of this architecture, a functional description of the C2N service will be developed as a basis for its standardization.
The consortium consisting of PRISMA solutions, AlbrechtConsult, the state capital of Stuttgart and TCP International (coordinator) will first analyse related projects to determine the state of the art and the requirements for this service. On this basis, the ITS reference architecture as well as a specification sheet will be developed in close cooperation with relevant stakeholders (MDM User Group, OCA, private navigation services). The latter takes into account the requirements for a so-called strategy editor as well as for the necessary DATEX II interfaces. The reference architecture builds on existing architectures and extends them to cope with the requirements of the C2N service. In addition to these technical objectives, a cooperation and evaluation concept will be developed for the implementation of the service and other necessary framework conditions and requirements for action will be identified for its implementation.
